Event Details

For young women who love math and art and science and music, choosing a college major can be tough: Do you say goodbye to science, technology and math and go with the arts? Or do you commit to a career in engineering and technology, and turn your back on your artistic self?

If you are wrestling with this choice, then your tribe might be at CU Boulder’s ATLAS Institute, where the new Technology, Arts & Media (TAM) engineering major offers a degree that blends science and technology with art and design.

To learn more, register for a brief information session about the TAM program, to be followed by a talk with Danielle Feinberg, a graduate of Boulder High School and director of lighting at Pixar.

About the Technology, Arts & Media or TAM program:

Are you a hacker at heart? Do you love math and science and consider yourself both technical and creative?  Are you doing music on Mondays, robotics on Tuesdays, graphics on Wednesdays and mobile apps on Thursdays?  Your tribe is at ATLAS, and the TAM engineering major could be a perfect match!

ATLAS is home to more than 200 BS TAM majors, as well as other students and faculty, who are coders, hackers, technologists, artists and designers.  We teach small, hands-on classes focused on a range of computing and creative topics, so you can express your ideas, and imagination, and innovate with technology.  ATLAS features a dynamic facility with space, classes and faculty that attract other bright and creative people, and more than 50 percent of our students are female!  The major offers a really unique blend of computing, engineering and creativity, and our students are interested in a range of creative technologies.  While the demand for traditional engineers remains high, there is an equally compelling demand for employees whose technical range is broad, deep and capable of working along the full spectrum of design and development.

Curious and want to learn more?  Come to the info session to see ATLAS and ask any questions.
