Black Box Studio
The Center for Arts, Media and Performance is currently accepting proposals for performances, installations, showings and presentations in the Black Box Studio.
The Black Box has a sprung floor and contains a high-end multi-channel sound system, an outstanding theatrical lighting rig, and HD multiple video projectors and projection surfaces.
As the performance area of the ATLAS Institute, the center is interested in projects that integrate technology with artistic practice. Because of the special nature of the space, the center does not book events that could just as easily happen in another campus venue; proposals must explain how the Black Box’s unique capabilities will be used or how the project will intensively use technology.
The center is particularly interested in projects that involve more than one discipline, including collaborations between various branches of the arts, collaborations between artists and scientists, or other interdisciplinary hybrids.
Projects may be proposed by students and/or by faculty.
The center is now reviewing programming for next academic year and will accept proposals until March 14. The schedule will be announced in early April.
Lobby, video wall, exhibition hall
The center currently is accepting proposals for installations, exhibits and shows in the following spaces:
• The 1,000-square-foot ATLAS lobby, which houses multiple audio and video zones, theatrical lighting and a steel pipe grid.
• The main lobby video wall, which is an 11-by-6 foot, 1,280-by-720 pixel nine-cube video wall, and is capable of receiving a variety of input signals.
• The Exhibition Hall, which offers a three-section, 45-foot linear wall for display of two-dimensional work and is equipped with tracks, hangars and lighting.
Projects may be proposed by students and/or by faculty.

Audio/video recording projects
The center currently is accepting proposals for audio and/or video recording projects.
Both the Black Box Studio and the Production Studio are equipped with HD video cameras, green-screen capability, and tie-lines to a multi-channel Pro Tools audio recording system.
Recording projects must have a faculty sponsor. As we only have a limited number of days to devote to recording each semester, space is limited, available times for recording are limited during a semester, and proposals are competitive. Projects may be proposed by students and/or faculty.

1. Provide a description of your proposed project, not to exceed 500 words.
2. List three significant artistic accomplishments (awards, publications, performances, exhibits, etc.), not to exceed 50 words per item.
3. What is your preferred semester for the proposed project?
4. Provide work samples in whatever format best suits the projects: audio, video, stills, etc. If submitting video or audio, please submit two excerpts, each not longer than five minutes. If submitting stills, please submit 10.
5. If you are a student, please include a faculty letter of support for the project.
6. Submit one copy of the written parts of the application electronically to Michael Theodore, director of the ATLAS Center of Media, Arts and Performance at michael.theodore@colorado.edu.
Also, drop off four hard copies of your project description, and one hard copy of each of your letters of faculty support and media files to the ATLAS reception area, room 223 on the second floor of the ATLAS building.
