Join an intimate discussion with seasoned Disney animators Hyrum Osmond and David G. Derrick, Jr about the production Moana, and their numerous previous projects, including the Oscar-winning feature “Frozen” as well as Oscar-winning shorts “Feast” and “Paperman,” and the features “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Tangled.” 

An RSVP is required to participate in this workshop, which is limited to 25 participants.

Guest Speakers

Hyrum Osmond, Co-Head of Animation, oversees animation production for “Moana.” Osmond joined Walt Disney Animation Studios in 2008, working as an animator for the studio’s 48th animated feature film. He served as animation supervisor for Olaf for WDAS’ Oscar-winning feature “Frozen.” Osmond was an animatoron the Oscar-winning shorts”Feast ” and “Paperman, ” as weII as the features “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Tangled.” He also animated on the 2009 ABC hit “Prep & Landing.” Osmond attended Brigham Young University as part of its animation program. He served as lead animator at Avalanche Software prior to joining Disney.

David G. Derrick Jr., Story Artist, was responsible for setting the style of the characters for “Moana,” as well as helping design and visualize the story by working with the directors, writers and the music team. Derrick joined Walt Disney Animation Studios to
work on “Moana.” He previously worked at DreamWorks Animation, where he served as a story artist for “Megamind,” “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Guardians,” among others. Born and raised in Farmington, Utah, Derrick decided to pursue a career in the animation
industry after seeing “Tarzan” while in college. He studied character animation at CalArts.
